Mariel Hemingway has collaborated with MindStir Media previously to help authors promote their books through social media videos and more – and now in 2023 she has teamed up with MindStir to launch her very own book club, Mariel Hemingway’s Book Club. Mariel Hemingway plans to leverage her book club to shed light on books that she finds extraordinary and shareable and that otherwise might have gone unnoticed. A book club for Mariel Hemingway is a perfect match – with her Hemingway name, her involvement with books makes perfect sense. After all, she is the granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway, arguably the best novelist in American history.
“It’s been a dream of mine to have a book club for quite some time and now with MindStir’s help it’s happening,” Mariel Hemingway stated. “I’m excited to share books that I think deserve attention.”
Mariel recently decided on two selections for her book club. The first book she deemed appropriate for her club is Hemingway’s Daughter, an Amazon bestseller by Christine M. Whitehead. “I really loved this book for its heart, its glimpses of Hemingway history, and for a truly creative reimagining of Hemingway lore,” said Mariel Hemingway. Hemingway’s Daughter centers on Finn Hemingway, the fictional daughter of Ernest Hemingway, as she pursues a career as a female lawyer in an era when it’s frowned upon.
The second book that Mariel Hemingway selected is The Adventures of Amber: Walk in the Woods by Isabell Hayden, a 7-year-old Amazon bestselling author who wrote the book to celebrate the beauty of nature and inspire others to spend time outdoors. “The Adventures of Amber will be a great addition to your child’s home library, and it will certainly be enjoyed by everyone else at home as well,” Mariel Hemingway stated enthusiastically.
Mariel Hemingway is an Oscar-nominated actress with over sixty acting credits (including Manhattan and Superman IV) as well as a best-selling author of six books. She was co-executive producer of the Emmy-nominated Running From Crazy, a rich and evocative documentary about the Hemingway family, in collaboration with Oprah Winfrey.
